One Pronounced Dead after 18-Wheeler Collision near Hufsmith-Kohrville Road
TOMBALL, TX (December 27, 2023) – Wednesday, one victim was pronounced dead after a rear-end semi-truck crash on FM 2978.
The deadly incident happened near Hufsmith-Kohrville Road involving an 18-wheeler truck carrying a load of large steel beams and a Chevrolet Equinox.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the 18-wheeler attempted to make a turn but failed, upon backing up, the Chevy traveling behind the truck slammed on its rear.
The impact of the collision claimed the life of a 38-year-old backseat passenger. A 13-year-old female front passenger and the driver were both heavily injured.
Furthermore, the emergency responders transported the girl and the driver to the hospital where the girl was expected to survive, while the driver had undergone surgery.
Moreover, the troopers are still investigating how fast the Chevy went and if the 18-wheeler proceeded in reversing without safety.
Meanwhile, the crews blocked all northbound lanes while they cleared out the scene. An active investigation is underway.
