Las Vegas Man Dead in Three-Vehicle Collision Near Inyokern
INYOKERN, CA (December 27, 2023) – Wednesday evening, a multi-traffic collision on Highway 14 took the life of Darren Keith Westby.
The fatal collision happened around 8:21 p.m. along SR-14 mile marker 47 near Inyokern.
According to CHP, a northbound 2016 Ford F-250 veered into the solid yellow lines and hit a 2016 Kenworth truck. Police said the truck was pulling a 2016-enclosed Wabash trailer.
Following the first crash, the Ford also collided with a 2023 Mazda CX-50 traveling southbound behind the Kenworth.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old Mazda driver – Darren Keith Westby of Las Vegas, NV – died at the scene. Westby’s passenger, 30-year-old Jocelyn Brown of Tarzana, sustained major injuries.
Paramedics rushed Brown and the 52-year-old Ford driver, Eligio Gonzalez, to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
In the end, the CHP closed Highway 14 in both directions as crews cleared the scene.
