1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Lamar Street
MESQUITE, TX (December 26, 2023) – Monday afternoon, Amanda Smith, Freda Easley, and Kefyalew Jaleta were hospitalized after a crash.
It occurred in the 3000 block of Interstate 30 in the eastbound lanes around 12:35 p.m., November 13th, involving multiple vehicles.
Investigation showed that a semi-truck driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a center divider, causing it to roll over to the eastbound lanes and end up on the westbound side.
Furthermore, as it rolled over, the semi collided with a Honda van driven by 50-year-old Amanda Smith with a cargo of cats, and two Toyota SUVs driven by 74-year-old Freda Easley and 37-year-old Kefyalew Jaleta.
Smith, Easley, and Jaleta were all transported to the hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, on November 14, Smith succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
Meanwhile, the paramedics listed Easley as a critical state and Jaleta was in stable condition.
At this time, the authorities added no additional information, and the Mesquite Police Department Traffic Unit is handling further investigation.
