23-Year-Old Oakland Woman Dead in Car Crash near 16th Street
OAKLAND, CA (December 18, 2023) – Late Wednesday morning, a car collision on Mandela Parkway took the life of Samrawit Abbadura and left two others injured.
The deadly crash occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Mandela Parkway and 16th Street in West Oakland.
According to the investigators, a Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on the 16th at a high rate of speed hit a northbound Honda sedan.
Unfortunately, the woman driving the Honda sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Officials later identified the deceased victim as 23-year-old Samrawit Abbadura of Oakland.
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the 24-year-old female passenger of the Honda and the Ford driver to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Before the incident, police learned that the male Ford driver was involved in a hit-and-run moments before the crash. Additionally, the Ford was registered as a stolen vehicle earlier that day.
After his release, the authorities booked the Ford driver in Alameda County Jail for vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and several other charges.
