21-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Three-Vehicle Accident near Lakeside Drive

AMARILLO, TX (December 18, 2023) – Late Wednesday evening, Juan Jose Flores Jr. was killed in a speeding semi-truck crash on Interstate 40.

The incident took place shortly before 11:00 p.m., on December 6th.

Officers say the collision involved a black Ford Mustang driven by Flores Jr., a green Chevy Camaro, and a semi-truck carrying a trailer.

Per reports, the Mustang and the Chevy were speeding side-by-side in the southbound lanes of Lakeside.

Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver was heading out of a parking lot, and the Mustang and Chevy went underneath the trailer.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 21-year-old Flores Jr., dead at the scene. Responding paramedics also transported the Chevy driver to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No additional information was added at this time, and the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Squad is handling further investigation.
