LUBBOCK, TX (December 11, 2023) – Thursday morning, a pedestrian crash on University Avenue left Phillip Lopez with serious injuries.
Police responded to the incident around 6:45 a.m., at the 8600 block of University Avenue for reports of a pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, officers found 24-year-old Lopez on the road with serious injuries.
Following preliminary duties, police said 67-year-old Fernando Rodriguez struck Lopez as he stepped into traffic. Shortly after, a second vehicle also struck the victim and immediately fled the scene.
