51-Year-Old Female Driver Dies after Colliding with Semi-Truck on North Loop 289

LUBBOCK, TX (December 11, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, a deadly SUV-Semi collision resulted in the death of Brenda Valdez.

The incident occurred at Clovis Road and North Loop 289 intersection just before 8:00 a.m., November 29th.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, the collision involved an SUV driven by 51-year-old Valdez and an 18-wheeler semi-truck.

Upon investigation, the police determined that the semi was stopped at a red light in the 3400 block of Clovis Road when it got struck by Valdez headed eastbound.

Unfortunately, Valdez sustained life-threatening injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene after not surviving her injuries.

Furthermore, the lanes at the intersection were blocked and motorists were advised to use other routes. It has since reopened after the scene was cleared. An active investigation is still ongoing.
