42-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Nelson Road

RIO HONDO, TX (December 6, 2023) – Thursday morning, Jorge Villanueva was killed in a head-on collision on FM 106.

Authorities responded to the scene around 10:11 a.m., just east of Nelson Road.

Per reports, the driver of a brown Chevrolet Silverado attempted to pass another vehicle while going eastbound on FM106. The Chevy then veered into the westbound lanes where it struck an oncoming Saturn Outlook.

First responders declared the Saturn driver dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 42-year-old Villanueva, of Rio Hondo. 

Meanwhile, emergency responders transported the Silverado driver to Vallep Baptist Medical Center. They were eventually airlifted to DHR Health in Edinburgh for treatment for unspecified injuries. 

In addition, officials claimed that the Silverado driver would be charged once released from the hospital.
