Melinda Epperson Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Ocotillo Road [Chandler, AZ]
73-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Paseo Trail
CHANDLER, AZ (December 5, 2023) – Monday morning, Melinda Epperson was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Ocotillo Road.
Dispatchers received calls just after 7:00 p.m., near Paseo Trail on November 27th.
According to the Chandler Police Department, 26-year-old Keith Taylor was driving a BMW sedan east on Ocotillo Road. There, she struck 73-year-old Epperson as she was walking along the crosswalk.
Upon impact, Taylor immediately fled the scene and became involved in another two-car crash after running a red light on McQueen and Ocotillo Foad. Taylor then attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Authorities were able to locate and arrest Taylor, who displayed signs of impairment. Moreover, a female passenger from inside Taylor’s vehicle also fled the scene before officers located her.
Following preliminary duties, troopers arrested Taylor with charges of manslaughter, felony hit and run and felony endangerment.
At this time, an active investigation is still currently ongoing.
