27-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Auto-Pedestrian Collision Near Deep Well Street

CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (December 4, 2023) – Wednesday evening, a pedestrian accident on California City Boulevard claimed the life of Leah Makiah Ida Phillips.

The deadly collision happened on November 29th, at around 6:26 p.m. near Deep Well and Maverick Street. 

Responding officers learned that a woman pulled over to exit her vehicle and ran into traffic for unknown reasons. 

As a result, the woman was struck by an oncoming 2019 Toyota Avalon. 

Despite the life-saving efforts of the Cal City police, the female victim died at the scene. Later, authorities identified the deceased woman as 27-year-old Leah Makiah Ida Phillips. 

The 73-year-old male driver from Mojave who struck the victim stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
