Two Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Walnut Grove Road

MIDLOTHIAN, TX (November 30, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Lakeshia Savala and Joanna Cain died in a wrong-way accident on Highway 287.

First responders arrived to the scene near Walnut Grove Road and Plainview Road after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a vehicle was heading north in the southbound lanes of the freeway. As a result, the wrong-way car collided head-on with another vehicle.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced the driver and one of their passengers dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victims as 38-year-old Savala, and 38-year-old Cain.

In addition, crews transported the other driver and another passenger to a nearby hospital in critical condition. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
