Two-Vehicle Crash near Atwater Left Two Fatalities
MERCED, CA (November 30, 2023) – Early Thanksgiving morning, a wrong-way collision on Highway 99 claimed the lives of Bryant Noyola and Norma Rodriguez.
The deadly crash happened around 4:15 a.m. along Highway 99 between Atwater and Merced.
Based on the initial investigation, a 2002 Hyundai Elantra traveling the wrong way collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Upon impact, the Tahoe flipped onto its roof before catching on fire. The female occupant inside the Tahoe, 49-year-old Norma Rodriguez, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Rodriguez’s husband, Gonzalo Ahumbra, 43, her daughter Selma Ahuama, 17, and her daughter-in-law, Cecilia Jimenez, 19, received significant injuries. Paramedics transported them to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
The driver of the Elantra, identified as 22-year-old Bryant Noyola also perished from the collision.
At this time, the family of Norma started a GoFundMe page to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
