Head-On Crash in Landers Kills 2 Twentynine Palms Residents
LANDERS, CA (November 28, 2023) – Monday morning, a car crash on Old Woman Springs Road left two people dead and Josie Stijepovic hospitalized.
The collision happened around 8:35 p.m. along Old Woman Springs Road, just north of Olivine Road.
According to CHP, a southbound 2019 Jeep Cherokee crossed the double-yellow lines while passing a vehicle.
As a result, the Jeep collided with a 2017 Kia Optima traveling northbound on the same road.
Tragically, a 33-year-old female passenger of the Kia from Twentynine Palms died at the scene. The 36-year-old Twentynine Palms man driving the Kia succumbed to his injuries at Hi-Desert Medical Center.
Meanwhile, the Jeep driver, identified as 39-year-old Josie Stijepovic of Helendale, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center. Reports said that Stijepovic sustained major injuries.
