Police Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash on Knott Avenue
BUENA PARK, CA (November 22, 2023) – Late Monday night, a two-vehicle crash on La Palma Avenue left one person dead and several injured.
Initially, the pursuit started after officers managed to identify a stolen black sedan at a McDonald’s on Beach Boulevard.
According to the report, officers surrounded the black sedan in the drive-thru lane. However, the driver went over a curb to flee the authorities.
At around 11:40 p.m., the chase ended in the area of La Palma and Knott Avenue near Knott’s Berry Farm.
Investigators said the suspect sped past the intersection and collided with a white Mercedes-Benz. The impact of the collision caused the stolen vehicle to catch on fire while the Mercedes sustained heavy damage.
Eventually, emergency personnel arrived and extricated two people from the stolen car. One of the occupants of the stolen vehicle was rushed to a hospital while a 24-year-old male driver died at the scene.
In addition, two adults and two children from the Mercedes were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor to moderated injuries.
Paramedics also rushed a bystander on a bicycle to a hospital for unspecified injuries. Additionally, a portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
