Three Hospitalized after Pursuit Crash near Donlon Street
VENTURA, CA (November 15, 2023) – Monday evening, Ron Balden was arrested after an ambulance collision on Main Street.
Officers responded to a separate collision between a motorcycle and a Hyundai sedan around 11:10 p.m. on Ocean Drive and Oxnard Avenue.
During the investigation, a black Audi recklessly drove through the scene, endangering the investigating officers.
Officers then began pursuing the Audi driver along northbound Victoria Avenue. However, officers called off the chase for safety reasons. Shortly after, one officer spotted the suspect near Channel Drive and Lemon Grove Avenue, leading to another pursuit.
The police chase ultimately ended after the Audi collided with a Gold Coast ambulance on Main and Donlon Streets. The impact pushed the ambulance into a large truck, causing the ambulance and the Audi to catch fire.
Paramedics transported all occupants of the three vehicles to hospitals, where they remained in stable condition.
In addition, the Audi driver sustained serious injuries. Police later identified the suspect as 20-year-old Ron Balden of Ventura. Authorities arrested Balden for felony DUI, felony evading, and assault with a deadly weapon.
