Woman Dead, Christian Castillas Arrested after DUI Crash on 710 Freeway [Long Beach, CA]
27-Year-Old Driver Arrested after Rear-End Ambulance Collision near 7th Street
LONG BEACH, CA (November 10, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, one woman was killed and Christian Castillas was arrested after a DUI crash.
The incident occurred around 2:10 a.m., on the northbound lanes of 710 Freeway near 7th Street on October 29th.
Officers say the driver of a 2018 Honda Civic rear-ended a Long Beach Fire Department BLS ambulance unit before veering into the center median.
The Honda’s driver, identified as 27-year-old Christian Castillas, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. Meanwhile, his female passenger died on the spot. Although, authorities have not yet released her identity.
Authorities arrested Christian Castillas on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony driving under the influence, causing bodily injury. At this time, the set bail is currently set at $100,000.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more details will be released to the public.
