Male Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run at Main Street

RIVERSIDE, CA (November 8, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, Hassan Qureshi was fatally struck by a DUI driver on University Avenue in Riverside. 

The deadly incident happened around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of University Avenue and Main Street. 

According to Sgt. James Elliott of Riverside Police, an eastbound silver Honda Civic hit a pedestrian on a marked crosswalk. Subsequently, the driver immediately fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. 

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the street has been reopened to the public.

Responding emergency personnel transported the victim to Riverside Community Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Later, authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Hassan Qureshi of Highland. 

Following the crash, Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputies managed to locate the suspect in his residence in San Jacinto. 

They arrested and booked Jesus Rodriguez in Robert Presley Jail for suspected DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Rodriguez’s city of residence remains undisclosed to the public.
