Motorcycle Versus SUV Collision Near Lake Casitas Left One Dead, One Injured
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (November 7, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a head-on collision on Highway 150 claimed the life of James Arthur Dalton.
The deadly crash happened around 2:20 p.m. on Highway 150 near Lake Casitas, just west of Red Mountain Fire Road.
According to CHP, an eastbound 2004 Harley Davidson entered the westbound lanes for unknown reasons. As a result, the rider collided head-on with a 2019 Land Rover SUV.
Tragically, the first responders declared the Harley-Davidson rider dead at the scene. He was later identified as 52-year-old James Arthur Dalton of Ventura.
Dalton’s 36-year-old female passenger from the same city suffered significant injuries.
Police said the 64-year-old Ojai man driving the Land Rover was unharmed. The CHP is currently investigating if drugs and alcohol contributed to the fatal head-on crash.
Moreover, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the highway has since been reopened.
Ventura County Officials are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact them as soon as possible.
