70-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Tow-Truck Collision on Cedar Pass
MODOC COUNTY, CA (November 7, 2023) – Friday, Brian Boatman was airlifted and a woman was killed in a tow-truck collision on Highway 299.
Around 4:15 p.m., police responded to the scene near Cedar Pass on November 3rd.
Officers say the driver of a westbound 2020 Chevrolet 6500 tow-truck drifted off the road and lost control while negotiating a curve. The Chevy then veered into the oncoming lanes where it struck a 2007 GMC Sierra.
The 70-year-old woman driving the GMC sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. However, her identity remains undisclosed to the public.
Meanwhile, medical responders airlifted the tow truck driver – 44-year-old Brian Boatman – to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Boatman sustained moderate injuries from the crash.
Following preliminary duties, the California Highway Patrol ruled out intoxication to be a factor in the collision. Once available, further details will be released.
