Wrong-Way Collision near Mills Avenues Kills 23-Year-Old Man
WHITTIER, CA (November 6, 2023) – Wednesday night, a three-vehicle collision along Mulberry Drive claimed the life of Aldo Romero.
The deadly collision happened around 7:50 p.m. on Mulberry Dr. and Mills Avenue in an unincorporated area of South Whittier.
According to CHP, a westbound Hyundai Sonata on Mulberry crossed into the opposing lanes for unknown reasons.
As a result, the Sonata collided head-on with a Jeep Cherokee. In addition, a Lexus IS 250 traveling east on Mulberry hit the rear of the Cherokee following the first collision.
Unfortunately, the first responders declared the Sonata driver dead at the scene. He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Department as 23-year-old Aldo Romero of Whittier.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 42-year-old Whittier man driving the Cherokee to a hospital. Police later arrested the Cherokee driver for a suspected DUI. However, they have not been identified by authorities.
The female driver from Pico Rivera driving the Lexus, along with a female passenger from La Miranda complained of pain. It was unclear if the two women were hospitalized.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
