42-Year-Old Bystander Pronounced Dead after Stolen-Car Accident near International Boulevard
OAKLAND, CA (November 1, 2023) – Luciano Carmona-Garcia died Wednesday night, in a stolen-vehicle collision on High Street.
Authorities responded to the scene just before 10:30 p.m., near International Boulevard on October 25th.
Per reports, the driver of a stolen Kia Sorento SUV was traveling at high rates of speed east on International Boulevard. The Kia then struck a Pontiac Vibe, sending the Kia into two additional vehicles.
Amidst the chaos, 42-year-old Carmona-Garcia became pinned between the vehicles. Both the Kia and the Pontiac driver immediately fled the scene.
Paramedics arrived and took Carmona-Garcia to a nearby hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Pontiac transported himself to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds.
At this time, the driver of the stolen Kia was not yet found, and police are conducting further investigation. Any witnesses are urged to contact the Oakland Police Department at 510-777-8570.
