Car Collision near Warren Road Left 51-Year-Old Driver Dead

HEMET, CA (October 31, 2023) – Early Wednesday evening, a two-vehicle collision on Devonshire Avenue claimed the life of Steve Montanez. 

According to the police, the incident happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of Devonshire Ave and Warren Road. 

Investigators claimed that a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Nissan Pathfinder collided with each other. However, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.

Unfortunately, the responding units from the Hemet Fire Department declared the Mitsubishi driver dead at the scene. The coroner later identified the victim as 51-year-old Steve Montanez.

Furthermore, a large portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. The avenue has since been reopened.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Pathfinder was transported to a trauma center where he remained in critical condition. 

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident. Officials also closed the north and southbound lanes of Warren Road for several hours as units cleared the scene.
