27-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after DUI Collision near Highway 183
AUSTIN, TX (October 25, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, Austin Buckley was fatally struck in a DUI accident on East State Highway 1.
Authorities responded to the scene around 4:44 a.m., at the 1500 block of Highway 1 near Highway 183.
Per reports, 44-year-old Ruben Ysasi was driving a westbound SUV and veered off the eastbound lanes before striking another SUV. Another SUV then rear-ended the second vehicle, driven by Buckley.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 27-year-old Buckley dead at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that Ysasi was driving under the influence. As a result, police arrested him with intoxication manslaughter, and causing an accident resulting in death.
At this time, the investigation is continuing, and witnesses are encouraged to contact APD regarding this incident.
