41-Year-Old Man Struck by Vehicle after Jaywalking near McDowell Road
PHOENIX, AZ (October 24, 2023) – Sunday evening, Jose Aranda Chavarria was killed in a pedestrian accident on 24th Street.
Police responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., near McDowell Road on October 22nd.
Officers say the driver of a passing vehicle struck Chavarria as he was crossing 24th Street outside of a marked crosswalk. First responders located Chavarria lying on the road in critical condition.
Paramedics then transported 41-year-old Chavarria to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
