Car Collision on FM 3197 Resulted in the Death of 30-Year-Old Bicyclist

WELLINGTON, TX (October 23, 2023) – Sunday evening, a vehicle and bicycle crash on FM 3197 killed Ramiro Perez-Hernandez.

The accident happened around 8:20 p.m. on October 8th, on FM 3197.

According to authorities, a westbound 2013 Nissan Altima collided with a bicyclist who was also traveling westbound.

Responding officers pronounced the bicyclist dead on the scene and identified him as Ramiro Perez-Hernandez, 30, of Wellington.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan has been identified only as a 16-year-old girl. The accident did not cause her any injuries.

Officials say it’s unclear why the teen driver hit the back end of the bicycle, which had front and rear reflectors and lights.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Furthermore, it was known that the minor had been driving without a license, and police later released the minor to her family. However, an active investigation is underway. No charges have been filed as of yet, but this may change once the investigation is completed.
