35-Year-Old Man Arrested after Head-On Accident near Bailey Road
ORINDA, CA (October 20, 2023) – Wednesday evening, police arrested Jesus Valdez after a stolen-vehicle accident on Highway 4.
Police responded to the scene near Bailey Road around 6:30 p.m.
Officers say they attempted to pull over a vehicle when the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, the suspect exited the vehicle on Acalanes Road before trying to flee on foot in a residential area.
The suspect once again entered the stolen vehicle before driving the wrong way on the eastbound lanes of Highway 24. Ultimately, the suspect came to a stop after colliding head-on with another vehicle.
Responding medical personnel rushed the suspect and the other driver to a hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jesus Valdez, of Oakland. Valdez is facing multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless evading, and a drug trafficking warrant from another county.
