2 Male Drivers Pronounced Dead after Fatal Wrong-Way Crash near Mile Post 8

CLARK COUNTY, WA (October 18, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, two male drivers were killed in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 5.

Emergency dispatchers received calls in the area around 1:45 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near mile post 8 on October 15th.

For reasons under investigation, the unidentified driver of a vehicle was heading south in the northbound lanes. As a result, the wrong-way vehicle struck another vehicle head-on in the northbound lanes.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced both male drivers, a 64-year-old man and a 37-year-old man dead at the scene due to the extent of their condition. Although, authorities have not yet released their names or place of residency.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal incident.
