One Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Bicycle Collision near Alta Vista Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 18, 2023) – Saturday evening, a male cyclist was hurt in a hit-and-run on Kentucky Street.
Officers responded to the scene around 6:48 p.m., near Alta Vista Drive in East Bakersfield.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a male bicyclist lying in the roadway with serious injuries. He was eventually transported to a nearby hospital where he remained in stable condition.
According to investigators, the driver of a westbound vehicle struck the bicyclist going in the same direction on Kentucky Street. However, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and render aid to the victim.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, police are asking those who witnessed the hit-and-run to contact the BPD at 661-327-7111.
