35-Year-Old Police Officer Dies after Multi-Vehicle Accident near Del Amo Boulevard
LAS VEGAS, NV (October 13, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a deadly multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of Officer Chad Swanson.
It occurred in the northbound lanes of 405 Freeway near East Del Amo Boulevard around 5:15 a.m., October 4th, involving four vehicles and 35-year-old Officer Swanson operating his motorbike.
According to CHP Lt. Steve Carapia, Officer Swanson was on duty during that time when a vehicle driving unsafe and at high speeds changed lanes and struck him.
Furthermore, Officer Swanson was ejected from his motorbike and he suffered extreme injuries. Responding paramedics transported him to the hospital where he later died.
In addition, the authorities stated that Officer Swanson was in service with the Manhattan Beach Police Department for 13 years. Manhattan Beach Police Chief Rachel Johnson said in a statement that they were saddened by the loss of their comrade.
Moreover, the Peace Officers Research Association set up a fundraising for the Swanson family.
Consequently, the authorities blocked the northbound lanes throughout the morning, and traffic was affected, while the officers conducted further investigation.
Further investigation is still ongoing.
