Head-On Collision Between Two Dump Trucks Causes Lane Closure

GOLD BAR, WA (October 13, 2023) – On Monday afternoon, two dump trucks collided on US 2 which resulted in a lane closure.

The incident happened on September 25th around 3:00 p.m. involving two dump trucks that collided head-on.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, one of the dump trucks was headed eastbound and the other on the westbound lanes.

Furthermore, one of the drivers suffered minor injuries and paramedics immediately transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Also, the Department of Ecology was dispatched to the scene to clear out the spilled fuel and fluid that leaked into a nearby stream.

Consequently, the authorities blocked the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway at Fir Road. Motorists were directed to Reiter Road as a precaution.

Moreover, the area was later reopened after it was cleared of the debris and the spill.

At this time, the cause of the collision was not yet determined, and further investigation is ongoing. Gold Bar officials will release additional information as it becomes available.

Because of their sheer size, large vehicles, like semi-trucks and trailers, increase the risk of a crash. So, If you’re driving one, always be mindful of your vehicle’s large height and weight. Maintain your travel lane and follow the speed limit. Also, adjust accordingly to give way for lane changes and other vehicles.
