Two Fatally Struck in Deadly Big-Rig Collision near Mile Marker 41
LA SALLE COUNTY, TX (October 12, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, Maria de Lourdes Rincon and Maximiliano Ortiz died in a semi-truck crash.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m., on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 just north of Encinal and Mile Marker 41 on September 26th.
Per reports, the driver of a 2020 Freightliner tractor trailer slowed down in a construction zone with heavy traffic. There, a 2016 Ford F-150 was unable to regulate its speed and struck the tractor trailer from behind.
Upon impact, the F-150 rolled over on the road. Medics arrived and pronounced 40-year-old Rincon and 15-year-old Ortiz dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the other passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Both the driver and passenger of the tractor trailer remained uninjured.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more information will be released.
