Leopoldo Padilla Mondragon Killed in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Riverside Avenue [Rialto, CA]
46-Year-Old Santos Lopez-Rosales Arrested after Hit-and-Run Collision near Santa Ana Avenue
RIALTO, CA (October 12, 2023) – Saturday, Leopoldo Padilla Mondragon was fatally struck in a bicycle accident on South Riverside Avenue.
First responders arrived to the scene around 7:05 p.m., on South Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a white 2008 Hyundai Elantra rear-ended a cyclist that was heading south in the middle No. 2 lane.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the male bicyclist dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 65-year-old Leopoldo Padilla Mondragon, of Laguna Hills.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the suspect’s vehicle was located in Bloomington. As a result, police issued an arrest warrant for 46-year-old Santos Lopez-Rosales of San Bernardino for suspicion of hit-and-run.
