53-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near West Orem Drive

HOUSTON, TX (October 12, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, a 53-year-old man was killed in a bicycle accident on Fondren Road.

Officers received reports around 2:35 p.m. on September 27th, at 13800 Fondren Road near West Orem Drive.

According to police, the bicyclist was traveling north on the sidewalk when a black Ford F-250 pickup-truck pulled out of a driveway.

The eastbound driver then stopped at the intersection signal before turning right in front of the cyclist who was turning right on West Orem.

As a result, the pickup-truck struck the bicyclist, leaving the 53-year-old man with serious injuries. Paramedics arrived and transported the rider to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the pickup-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Following preliminary duties, officers ruled out impairment as a potential factor. At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing to determine further details about the fatal bicycle accident on Fondren Road.
