Motorcycle Crash near Camp Pendleton Left At Least One Fatality
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (October 11, 2023) – Saturday morning, a rider was killed in a double-motorcycle collision on Interstate 5.
Officials received reports of the collision around 9:20 a.m. along northbound I-5, south of CHP San Onofre Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility.
According to CHP, a black Yamaha R1 motorcycle rear-ended a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle for unknown reasons. As a result, both riders were ejected from their vehicles.
Tragically, the first responders declared the Yamaha rider, identified as a 20-year-old Oceanside resident, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 22-year-old Honda rider to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased rider once their next of kin has been notified.
