27-Year-Old Man Arrested after DUI Accident on North First Avenue
TUCSON, AZ (October 9, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, police arrested Michael Jesus Luera after causing a three-vehicle DUI crash.
On September 28th, at around 1:00 a.m., the officers were dispatched to the incident that took place on East Grant Road and North First Avenue.
According to the Tucson Police Department, 27-year-old Michael Jesus Luera was driving a BMW with a 26-year-old female passenger at 130 mph when he crashed into a Subaru.
Furthermore, Luera and his passenger were hospitalized along with the two occupants of the Subaru. In addition, the occupants of the Subaru obtained life-threatening injuries, but police updated that their condition is now stable.
Moreover, the authorities said that the Subaru was split in half, and the BMW caught fire. A Toyota Camry was also involved in the collision.
Eventually, the officers took Luera into custody a day later after he was discharged where he faces two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of endangerment, and two counts of criminal damage.
Also, the officers determined that Luera was intoxicated during the time of the crash. No other details were added at this time.
