88-Year-Old Female Passenger Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident near 22nd Street
TUCSON, AZ (October 6, 2023) – Late Friday evening, Dorothy Smith Weaver was killed in a head-on collision on East Old Spanish Trail.
Authorities responded to the scene at the 9200 block of East Old Spanish Trail near Harrison Road on September 29th.
Per reports, the 21-year-old male driver of a Silver Mazda 3 was heading west and veered into oncoming lanes before colliding head-on with a Toyota Avalon.
The Toyota was driven by a 70-year-old woman with Weaver as a passenger. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 88-year-old Weaver dead at the scene.
In addition, paramedics took the Toyota driver, another passenger and the suspect driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the 21-year-old Mazda driver was impaired. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway. Once available, more information will be released.
