Passenger Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Steptoe Street
KENNEWICK, WA (October 5, 2023) – On Tuesday evening, two people were hospitalized following an accident on Steptoe Street.
The incident happened on September 19th near the entrance of Santiago Estates involving a 2019 Honda Civic and a 2014 Dodge Journey.
According to Kennewick Police Department Sergeant Matt Newton, the Honda was driven by a 21-year-old woman with a 48-year-old female passenger.
Upon investigation, the officers learned that the Honda headed northbound and attempted to make a left turn on the trailer park when the Dodge headed southbound attempted to avoid the Civic crashed into it, and ended near the entrance of the park.
Furthermore, the occupants of the Civic suffered injuries, the passenger obtained serious injuries while the driver had minor wounds.
Consequently, the responding paramedics transported both injured people to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge did not obtain any injuries from the collision.
Moreover, the authorities blocked the southbound lanes of the street during the clearing duties and additional investigation.
In a press release, KPD Commander Christian Walters said that they reopened the street.
At this time, the officers stated that alcohol or drugs did not contribute to the collision. Further investigation is underway.
