DUI Two-Vehicle Collision on Wilshire Boulevard Led to Driver’s Arrest
SANTA MONICA, CA (September 26, 2023) – Late Wednesday night, police arrested Nehemias Rivera-Menjivar following a stolen vehicle crash on Seventh Street.
According to the report, officers spotted a vehicle running a red light around 11:20 p.m. near the 700 block of Montana Avenue.
Police said the driver fled and committed additional traffic violations before colliding with a second vehicle.
However, the driver continued down the Santa Monic Pier ramp and into the Newcomb lot before the police managed to box in the suspect.
Reports claimed that the driver attempted to flee on foot and required additional attempts for the officers to put him in custody.
Ultimately, officials booked 22-year-old Nehemias Rivera-Menjivar for suspected hit-and-run, reckless driving, and multiple other charges. Rivera-Menjivar also admitted to driving under the influence of marijuana.
Additionally, police determined that the suspect’s vehicle was stolen from an address in Long Beach. It was unclear if the driver of the second vehicle involved in the collision sustained any injuries.
