Man and Woman Killed in Pedestrian-Auto Collision near Foothill Boulevard

SYLMAR, CA (September 25, 2023) – Thursday night, Paul Sanchez and a female victim were killed in a pedestrian crash on Astoria Street. 

Officers responded to the fatal incident around 7:40 p.m. at the 13900 block of Astoria Street, near Foothill Boulevard. 

According to reports, a 35-year-old driver traveling eastbound on Foothill hit a man pushing a woman in a wheelchair for unknown reasons. 

First responders at the site of the collision declared the man pushing the wheelchair dead at the scene. Medical personnel also transported the female victim to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. 

Later, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Coroner identified the deceased male pedestrian as 38-year-old Paul Sanchez. Meanwhile, officials have not yet released the identity of the female victim.

Police said the driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. 

Los Angeles Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
