Single-Vehicle Crash Near Ophir Road Left Multiple People Injured
AUBURN, CA (September 21, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a single SUV crash on Interstate 80 left several people hospitalized, including three children.
The collision was reported around 2:45 p.m. along the westbound lanes of I-80 near Maple Street, west of Ophir Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, a westbound gold Ford SUV crashed into a center divide for unknown reasons.
As a result, the SUV rolled over an unknown number of times before landing on its wheels.
The 30-year-old Stockton woman driving the vehicle sustained major injuries from the crash, while her front passenger, identified to be a 39-year-old man, received leg injuries.
Responding medical personnel also transported three children, ages 2, 8, and 9 to a hospital for medical evaluation.
In the end, Auburn officials temporarily diverted the traffic to Ophir Road as crews cleared the scene. The roadway has since been reopened.
