Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision near 59th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
Suspect Still at Large after Hitting and Killing One Pedestrian near Camelback Road
PHOENIX, AZ (September 20, 2023) – Late Saturday evening, police responded to a hit-and-run collision near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road.
The incident happened on September 9th just before 11:00 p.m. when a truck struck a pedestrian and crashed into another vehicle.
Upon investigation, the officers learned that the driver of the truck headed northbound on 59th Avenue and ran over a red light at Camelback Road.
Furthermore, a pedestrian walking along a crosswalk was struck by the truck, then the truck ended up hitting another vehicle.
Unfortunately, the paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Moreover, the suspect vehicle came to a stop after crashing into a bus stop just north of Camelback, and the driver fled the scene, leaving an injured woman inside. Paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the authorities were able to obtain the identity of the suspect but police have not yet released it.
