8-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Collision near Owens Street
MADERA, CA (September 20, 2023) – A pedestrian accident on Ellis Street left an 8-year-old boy hospitalized, Tuesday morning.
The collision happened around 7:20 a.m., just west of Owens Street near the Ezequiel Tafoya Alvarado Academy.
Per reports, a crossing guard directed the eight-year-old and his brother to cross the street. There, the driver of a 2012 Honda Civic failed to stop and struck the young boy, sending him onto side of the road.
Responding emergency personnel transported the 8-year-old to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment of major injuries. Meanwhile, his older sibling did not sustain any injuries.
The 25-year-old man driving the Civic remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said the crossing guard was wearing an orange reflective shirt and holding a stop sign at the time of the incident.
At this time, Madera Officials continue to investigate the Ellis Street pedestrian crash.
