One Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Gilbert Road
SACATON, AZ (September 20, 2023) – Thursday evening, one victim was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 87.
Police responded to the scene just before 6:50 p.m., near Gilbert Road on September 7th.
Per reports, the driver of an SUV was heading south and veered into the opposite lanes for reasons unknown. There, the SUV struck a northbound semi-truck, causing it to overturn.
Shortly after, both vehicles became engulfed in flames. Emergency crews arrived and extricated the SUV driver who was trapped inside their vehicle. However, medics later pronounced the victim dead due to the extent of their condition.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway. Once available, more information will be released.
