Suspect Arrested after Colliding with a Motorcyclist near Mercer Street
SEATTLE, WA (September 19, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, a driver was arrested after a DUI accident on Dexter Avenue North.
On August 24th, police received a report involving an impaired driver who was stopped in the traffic lane of South Lake Union.
According to the authorities, they responded to the scene and located a black Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 27-year-old man traveling at high speeds on northbound Dexter Avenue North.
In addition, the driver ran over multiple stop signs and stopped at the intersection. Upon confrontation, the driver drifted away from the officers.
Furthermore, the suspect struck a 41-year-old motorcyclist stopped at the intersection causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle.
Moreover, the Seattle Fire arrived at the scene and gave medical attention to the rider who suffered non-life-threatening wounds.
Consequently, the suspect crashed into a barrier where the driver immediately left his vehicle and went westbound on Valley Street.
Meanwhile, the officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody.
Eventually, the police took the suspect to King County Jail with DUI charges, hit and run, negligent driving, ignition interlock violation, and obstruction. The roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
