Codey Henderson Dies in Head-On Collision on State Highway 16 [Young County, TX]
20-Year-Old Passenger Killed, Driver Injured after Head-On Accident
YOUNG COUNTY, TX (September 18, 2023) – On Friday morning, police responded to a fatal accident that killed Codey Henderson.
According to Texas DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez, the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m., September 1st, on State Highway 16, just miles south of Loving.
Furthermore, the collision involved a 2007 Ford Mustang driven by a man and occupied by 20-year-old Codey Henderson, and a 2004 Freightliner CL1 towing a 2015 Manac Belly Dump trailer.
Moreover, the Ford headed northwest while the Freightliner headed southeast. The Ford then veered over to the center lane and crossed into oncoming traffic causing a collision with the Freightliner.
Unfortunately, Henderson did not survive his injuries and he was pronounced dead. Authorities later revealed that Henderson and the Ford driver were not wearing their seatbelts.
Meanwhile, the paramedics transported the Ford driver to Texas Health Harris Methodist with an unknown extent of injuries. Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
Also, the 48-year-old driver of the Freightliner did not obtain any injuries. Further investigation is currently ongoing.
