Car-Pedestrian Collision near Rio Linda Boulevard Kills 32-Year-Old Man

RIO LINDA, CA (September 18, 2023) – Thursday evening, Brian Jakob McIntyre was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Elkhorn Boulevard.

CHP officials responded to the collision shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the 500 block of Elkhorn Boulevard, near Rio Linda Boulevard. 

Based on the initial investigation, a vehicle hit the man and continued traveling without rendering aid to the victim. 

Subsequently, a second vehicle attempted to avoid the male pedestrian and crashed in the front yard of a residence in the area. 

Responding emergency personnel declared the victim dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the second vehicle to a hospital in critical condition. 

A female juvenile passenger inside the car that crashed into a front yard did not sustain injuries. 

Later, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased pedestrian as 32-year-old Brian Jakob “Jake” McIntyre. 

At this time, McIntyre’s family is asking officials to put a traffic light in the area to prevent a similar incident. 

Police are currently searching for the hit-and-run driver, believed to be in a silver Pontiac at the time of the crash. Those with further information about the fatal collision are encouraged to contact local authorities as soon as possible.
