23-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Big-Rig Accident near West Brenham Street

ELGIN, TX (September 14, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Eric Hernandez was killed in a head-on semi-truck collision on Highway 290.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m., at the 600 block of Highway 290 near Brenham Street on August 26th.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a pickup-truck was heading east and crossed over the center lane directly into the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler. As a result, the two vehicles collided head-on.

Responding medical units transported both drivers to an area hospital for further treatment. Crews later pronounced the pickup-truck driver, 23-year-old Hernandez, dead due to the extent of his condition.

Meanwhile, the 18-wheeler’s driver cooperated with the investigation and declined medical attention.
