Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on Interstate 10 [Chandler, AZ]
One Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Collision near State Route 587
CHANDLER, AZ (September 13, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, one victim was fatally struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 10.
The incident occurred on the westbound lanes of the freeway near State Route 587 after receiving multiple calls.
Officers say the semi-truck driver saw the pedestrian and changed lanes in attempt to avoid a collision. However, the driver was unable to move in time and struck the pedestrian.
In addition, witnesses from the scene say the person was running back and forth across the lanes before the crash.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the severely injured victim dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations.
Following preliminary duties, crews located the deceased victim’s vehicle locked on the side of the highway near the scene. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
