Akua Miggins Dead, Francisco Garcia Arrested after Rear-End Rollover Crash on 67th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
36-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Accident near Indian School Road
PHOENIX, AZ (September 13, 2023) – Early Friday morning, Akua Miggins was killed in a rear-end rollover crash on 67th Avenue.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m., near Indian School Road on September 1st.
For reasons under investigation, 40-year-old Francisco Garcia rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection. Upon impact, the vehicle that was struck rolled over, trapping the driver and passenger inside.
Meanwhile, Garcia fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Emergency crews arrived and extricated both occupants from the overturned vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the passenger, 36-year-old Akua Mashavu Safiya Miggins dead.
Meanwhile, the other occupant of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening wounds, and paramedics took her to a hospital.
On September 3rd, officers were able to locate and arrest Garcia with multiple charges, including leaving the scene of a collision. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still underway.
