32-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Accident near Aero Drive
MISSION VALLEY, CA (September 12, 2023) – Sunday morning, Yannira Rodriguez was fatally injured in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 15.
The incident occurred around 1:34 a.m., near Aero Drive.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a white Infiniti QX30 was driving north on the southbound lanes. There, the Infiniti hit a black Honda Fit and a tan Nissan Altima head-on before coming to a stop.
Firefighters arrived and used the “Jaws of Life” and other instruments to extricate the driver of the Honda. Paramedics later declared the driver dead after the procedure, which took about 25 minutes.
Following preliminary duties, crews suspect that drugs or alcohol played a factor.
